I'm trying to connect my 2012 11" MacBook Air to my Panasonic p60st60 1080p plasma HDTV using a new Monoprice Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter & 6' HDMI cable. My TV displays a "No signal" message and my Mac does not show a secondary display option under System Preferences > Displays. I thought it was a handshake issue so I turned off the TV
After a while I wanted to connect my MacBook Pro (2020, i5) to my external monitor (27 inch Philips - 1440p). It worked a couple of weeks ago like I’m used to from apple. Today the monitor worked for a couple of seconds after booting and then stopped and continued to display a black screen. It is connected via a Thunderbolt - HDMI adapter.

The Apple logo and boot screen progress bar appears in DVI, HDMI and VGA too. but when the MAC OS session starts, all DVI and HDMI displays turn off.

Users have asked this before but the answers have been completely unsatisfying: When I plug my macbook air M1 into an external monitor (an LG television, in this case) using an HDMI connection, it works fine EXCEPT it cannot stream video from online. Youtube, Netflix, HBO, etc, do not work.
